Well, it may be (sunny???) August but it is only 145 days to Christmas! I've had my summer holiday and now I've got to start saving and planning for Christmas. The more I plan, the more I save. I'm already thinking of making some whisky marmalade - something just a bit different for those elderly men who have everything! I'm planning to try to come up with a cheat's recipe - I don't fancy preparing all those oranges! I'll let you know how I get on and post the recipe for you all!
Meanwhile, keep a sharp eye out for stocking fillers and look at the summer sales for things like fashion jewellery, books and smellies. Check out your local charity shops - mine have several ranges of new items including smellies, ornaments and household gifts. Some items are being reduced now, but the ranges are not all that expensive anyway and I'd rather buy them, and support a charity, than support big business.
Lastly, I always start a Christmas present list and keep it in my diary. Once I've bought a present I have to find various nooks and crannies all round the house to store it and, if I don't write down what I've bought and who it's for, I end up buying another present for the same person!
Happy Christmas Shopping!
